Presentation of the New Guinea Remembrance Cross to Jack Kooistra

On May 7, 2024, Jack Kooistra was awarded the New Guinea commemorative cross (for the second time). This happened in the presence of a number of guests, including Major Marco Kroon. Lieutenant Colonel Erik Derks, commander of the 44th PainfBat, Prince Johan Willem Friso regiment at the Joahnnes Post Kazere in Havelte, pinned this award.

The New Guinea Remembrance Cross can be awarded to the soldiers of the Royal Navy, the Royal Army and the Royal Air Force, as well as to the soldiers of the former Royal Dutch-Indonesian Army, who served in New Guinea during the period from December 28 1949 to November 23, 1962.

At the monument to the fallen of the December 7 division/the Johan Willem Friso regiment, Jack Kooistra knows how to mention the necessary details of many of the fallen.
